Strawberry Jam Recipe
Ingredients
250g freshly picked and washed strawberries
250g granulated sugar
1 tsp lemon juice freshly squeezed
Instructions
Put the strawberries in a large saucepan and mash up, leaving some texture and lumps
Add the sugar and lemon juice
Heat gently, stirring with a wooden spoon until all the sugar has dissolved.
Increase the heat to bring to a rolling boil and then stir for 5 minutes with a wooden spoon
Remove pan from heat.
Next, test the setting point by placing a some drops on a cool saucer and leave for a minute
Push your finger through the jam and if it forms a crinkle and is tacky then it’s ready
If not boil for another minute and retest
Ladle into a sterilised jar and seal with lid immediately.
Leave to cool and then store in a cool, dry, dark place.
