Strawberry Jam Recipe


  • 250g freshly picked and washed strawberries 

  • 250g granulated sugar 

  • 1 tsp lemon juice freshly squeezed


  • Put the strawberries in a large saucepan and mash up, leaving some texture and lumps

  • Add the sugar and lemon juice

  • Heat gently, stirring with a wooden spoon until all the sugar has dissolved.

  • Increase the heat to bring to a rolling boil and then stir for 5 minutes with a wooden spoon 

  • Remove pan from heat.

  • Next, test the setting point by placing a some drops on a cool saucer and leave for a minute

  • Push your finger through the jam and if it forms a crinkle and is tacky then it’s ready

  • If not boil for another minute and retest

  • Ladle into a sterilised jar and seal with lid immediately.

  • Leave to cool and then store in a cool, dry, dark place.
