Weed Control: A Practical Guide for Plot Holders

Weeds generally fall into two types: annuals, which grow and die within a single season, and perennials, which are more persistent and return year after year from their roots. • Using winter digging to tackle deep-rooted perennial weeds

  • Employing regular hoeing to keep annual weeds in check

  • Recognising and managing the eight most common perennial weeds found on allotments
